25 years ago, in 1998, the first of our groups followed in the footsteps of Marco Polo to visit the countries of Central Asia through Iran. Travellers have already turned right in Novosibirsk to explore the Caucasus, driving through Central Asia and across the Caspian Sea.
Wars and crises cause border closures and we offer a viable option to go to the Silk Road with this route. Unlike the tour we last offered through Russia, we are touring Iran and the Caucasus here. Instead of the trip to China, where people are still struggling with Covid, the route was extended to include Tajikistan.
The sights of old Persia and the architectural monuments on the Old Silk Road lure with their exoticism. Desert-like landscape, fertile plains, imposing mountain ranges, oases and plantations show us a variety on the driving stages. During the tours we hear stories from 1001 Nights, about different rulers and dynasties, from adventurers and traders. Museums and markets complete the program.
The journey leads through Turkey to Iran. Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, the Soviet Orient is extensively visited. The return journey is from Kazakhstan via the Caspian Sea. From Azerbaijan it is not far to Georgia and after a little over 3 months to the end of the journey on the Turkish Black Sea coast.

Tour does not take place in 2023
Traveling to a country that, like Iran in November 2022, is on the brink of civil war is not a good idea. Our revision with the arrival via the Caucasus could not convince everyone. A large proportion of those interested have decided to wait with booking long-distance travel. Therefore, this trip was cancelled on the deadline date.
